n February 1997, whereas Miya still was a student from Ibaraki’s prefecture school, he decided to create a band with Satoshi, after his meeting with Tatsurô...

Their first live appearance took place at the “Mito Light House” in May. But it is only with Yukke’s arrival, in February 1999, that Mucc’s intense scenic activity started.

As the leader and guitarist of the band, Miya composes most of the music but also writes some lyrics. Since his parents were both music teachers, he has been very early immersed in a musical universe.

Before using his real name, Mucc’s singer, Tatsurô was called “Tatoo”. He is the one who writes most of the lyrics on Miya’s melodies. He pays a very detailed attention to his appearance.

Yukke was the group’s cameraman before becoming the official bassist, replacing Hiro.He is the youngest of the band and never misses an occasion to play the fool.

The drummer, Satoshi, seems to be a very quiet person, but it is hard to know what he truly thinks. He is told to be athletic, practicing a lot of sports like basket ball and surf.

Mucc’s universe is a dark world tinged with sadness. The painful past of some members has a great influence on the lyrics and on the differents albums atmospheres.Nevertheless, there is always a small sunbeam represented by a lively melody, a child’s song or an optimistic sentence hidden in oppressive lyrics.

Mucc has various musical influences. Since each member has their own musical culture, the final result is a successful patchwork of westerner rock sounds mixed with a particularly Japanese sensibility. Their style is unique but it is also a mix which allows each one to find similar sounds with bands such as X-Japan, Luna Sea, Buck-Tick(famous Japanese bands), but also Korn, Metallica or Deftones.
