Some of you may already know Takatsuki, the “wood bass MC”... Other may have seen ATOM as referee and freestyler in the DVD “That’s Nip-Hop”. The two MCs are now performing together in SUIKA and their unique and cooling sounds are finally coming in Europe!

Kaztake Takeuchi’s keyboards, Yûko Takahashi’s percussions and Takatsuki’s double bass gave birth to a Hip hop and jazzy music, which will be the verbal playing area for our two MCs, ATOM and Takatsuki, and the poetess, Toto.
Xylophones, rattles, whistles and other instruments season the whole, and complete the recipe with their unique and magic sound, a poetic and melodic trip which SUIKA only has the secret.
The legend says that these five artists and their current producer and manager YM-Z, both met in 2003 at Flying Books’s (a bookstore specialised in secondhand Westerner books). And they decided to produce music together in a band called “SUIKA” as they were eating water melon at that moment (“Suika” means “water melon”).
In July 2004, their first record “Harvest for the Stripes” was released. Various tracks immediately rose on the “College chart” top (Classification for students). The same year, they took part in FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL and were appointed in several music magazines which made much speak about them.
In April 2005, they were presented in the MTV Japan show “World Chart Express”.
In July, they released their second record: “Ripe Stripes” from which most of the tracks were recorded at Flying Books! Then, in December, their third album “Coin side” was released!
Concurrently, they organise regular concerts called “Suika Yawa” (“The Suika’s evening stories”), where various artists are invited. These parties are often the opportunity to discover new artists but also Suika’s new songs.
